Chad the Gall Bladder

Happy Monday! A friend of mine has been having gall bladder problems as of late, and in fact, she is supposed to be having it removed sometime soon. She has even named her internal nemesis Chad. I don't know why. Nevertheless, this is the get-well card I made for her, but don't tell her, because I haven't sent it yet, and I would like it to be a surprise. I'm really pleased with the way it turned out. Chad just seems like the ne'er-do-well brother-in-law type, you know, the guy who despite contributing absolutely nothing would not think twice about taking the last donut in the box. Anthropomorphism (giving human characteristics to non-human creatures or objects) seems to be one of my strong points, at least it does lately. Just imagine if she were having a labioplasty or something done. As for the card itself, well, you can see, the outside of the card reads: Suddenly, Chad realized—. If you're wondering, the inside reads: he was no longer welcome. I don't know if there is a market for this specific of a get-well card, but I might just look into it.

Oh, and yes, I realize an actual gall bladder would be a much darker green, but it didn't lend itself to marker rendering. Call it artistic license.

-Cheers!

Post #71 New Header Banner Thingy (beta)

Hey kids,

well all you longtime readers of WOWS, will notice the new header banner thing-a-ma-jig—I don't like to get bogged down with technical terms in the summer. Anyway, it is still in beta, meaning it still needs some fine tuning and whatnot, but I am happy enough with it to put it up, which is saying something. You've probably also noticed that the color scheme is also new, well that is also being worked on, and still needs some tweaking, the nearly invisible links, for example.

So, Stay tuned for Gala Grand Opening, which should be soon . . . god willing and the creek don't rise.

-Cheers!

Update: 6/9/09 Getting closer, but still needs fine tuning.

Final Update: 6/15/09 Okay this baby is done!

Dear John

Not really much to say on this one, simply one of the worst days of a soldiers life. At the end of a horrific battle, a Dear John Letter waits for him. This is based on an old sketch from an abandoned project. Parts of it I'm happy with, and other parts not so much. Probably not the cheeriest of subjects, especially for a Monday. Maybe, and no promises here, I'll be able to get something a little happier done later in the week.
Until then, cheers!

A Belated Beach Post

Yeah, I was really hoping to have this done the Monday after our return but I've had so much going on that I didn't get it done. Anyway, in case you missed it, my girl, Sugar, took me to the beach a couple of weeks ago. It was really an awesome trip, because not only did we have a grand time, but it was supposed to rain the whole time and it virtually DID NOT, which if you are at all familiar with the Oregon Coast, you understand just how amazing that is. I hope to do some more drawings from this trip soon, but for now, this is a semi-quick one in walnut ink & Copic pens of me and Sugar hanging out on the wharf in Newport .

Have a great week.
Cheers!
